At first, the prisoners resist, but the repeated experiments push them to the brink both mentally and physically, until they cry and beg for forgiveness and finally submit to the director. The prisoners do not yet realize that they are no longer human, but will spend the rest of their lives in this prison hospital as the director's guinea pigs; indeed, no one who has been held in this prison hospital has ever been released.
